Abstrakt

La néologie (F. Dougnac) Relying on the preface written in 1798 by Garat for the fifth edition the Dictionnaire de l'Académie, the author takes on the problem of neology. After the French Revolution, the improvement of language is a crucial question; the · theoretical foundations of this project are examined with respect to the works of Butet and Mercier (an enemy of the Ideologists). Mention is made of research done in the same field.
