The appearance during the past several years of a number of books and articles devoted to Ernst Mach is perhaps an indication of the renewed interest in the topics and historical figures associated with various forms of empiricism. This is to be welcomed, for this area of studies in intellectual and cultural history had become relatively undervalued.
