Nature as presence and experience
pp. 273-284
in: Robert S. Cohen, Alfred Tauber (eds), Philosophies of nature: the human dimension, Berlin, Springer, 1998Abstract
In traditional philosophical terms, the topic of my paper could be said to be the place of humans in the cosmos, considered from a metaphysical, epistemological and ethical perspective. Less traditionally, I could say that my concern is with postmodern ecological ethics. However, since neither of those summaries is particulary informative, let me begin by sketching the outline of my argument instead.
