Abstract

In this chapter, Stephen Horrocks shows how the philosophical programme of Heidegger has application to the nursing context, specifically, to nurse education. Horrocks suggests that Cartesian conceptions of mind have helped to foster the presumption that theoretical knowledge precedes, or is more fundamental than, practical knowledge ("know-how').
