Abstrakt

The aim of the paper is to present a philosophical reflection on the logic and mathematics in Cracow in the inter-war period. This was a time of the intensive development of mathematics (Polish Mathematical School) and of logic (Warsaw Logical School, Lvov-Warsaw Philosophical School) in Poland. One can ask whether this development was accompanied by philosophical and methodological reflection. We shall present and analyse philosophical concepts concerning the logic and mathematics of Jan Sleszyński, Stanislaw Zaremba, Zygmunt Zawirski, Witold Wilkosz and Leon Chwistek who were active (mainly) in Cracow. Their ideas will be confronted and compared with the philosophical concepts of the logicians and mathematicians who were members of the Warsaw School.
