Abstract

Psychoanalysis and structuralism challenge the philosophy of the subject from two different yet converging directions; the results Ricoeur obtains from this twofold contestation are complementary. It is not enough, though, to merely juxtapose the conclusions of the two encounters; they must interact, shedding light on each other.⁷⁷
