Abstract

Professor Hans Reichenbach. who teaches at the University of Berlin, is a proponent of the new scientific trend in philosophy. It is the aim of this new movement to construct a precise theory concerning our knowledge of nature and the relation between thought and existence by means of a thorough investigation of the natural sciences, including mathematics; for this reason, it is more closely bound up with the empirical sciences than any other philosophical movement. The teachings of this new philosophy of science are still a matter of controversy today, facing particularly strong opposition among humanistic and cultural philosophers. This may enhance the interest of our readers in the following interview, in which this leading proponent of the movement shares with us his basic ideas.
