Abstract

"Entailment" we use for a connection between statements corresponding to there being a valid argument from one to the other, and we invoke the witness of two thousand years to sanction our putting on this connection the requirements of relevance and necessity. More locally, we rely on the tradition depending from Ackermann [1], and summarized in Anderson and Belnap [2] (1975, henceforth, AB75).
