The brain still presents many enigmas to the working neurophysiologist. In order to make progress it seems necessary to take a high level view of the information processing performed by the brain and search for the general organisational plan. The Relational Mind model is used to begin to construct a detailed model of the Mind. A set of guiding Principles is developed, and the two stage Relational Mind model explored to understand the emergence of consciousness at the level of phenomenal experience.
